TITLE: Strategic Dispatcher - Lubes
LOCATION: Houston, TX
POSITION REPORTS TO: Regional Director Non-Fuel Logistics

COMPENSATION: Commensurate with experience
Position Summary:
The Strategic Operations Dispatcher plays a critical role in optimizing routing, asset utilization, and service performance within their assigned zone. This position is responsible for independently making time-sensitive, strategic decisions that directly impact operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and financial performance related to corporate initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Own and manage volume planning, routing optimization, and delivery execution to ensure alignment with KPIs, EBITDA targets, and service expectations
* Independently analyze and adjust tank utilization, route efficiency, and zone coverage using data-driven insights, to optimize delivery efficiency
* Make real-time operational decisions to reassign resources, cancel/add loads, or reroute deliveries based on market conditions, weather, customer needs, or driver availability
* Conduct zone-level analysis and scenario planning to support corporate metrics and strategic objectives
* Use performance dashboards and volume indicators to meet and exceed benchmarks in efficiency, cost, and service levels
* Collaborate regularly with leadership, including Terminal Managers, Area Business Leaders, and Operations Directors to communicate trends, mitigate risks, and align dispatch strategy with broader operational goals
* Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local transportation regulations while meeting company performance standards
* Participate in strategy reviews and cross-functional planning meetings related to corporate initiatives and continuous improvement efforts
* Monitor and manage tank inventory, proactively dispatching to prevent service gaps
* Maintain oversight of driver scheduling, availability, and capacity in real time
* Coordinate load assignments and documentation across systems and stakeholders
* Maintain accurate logs and system entries to ensure audit-readiness and data integrity
* Perform administrative and communication duties, including scheduling, reporting, and customer follow-ups, with discretion and urgency
* Maximize customer service and company profits through effective management of product inventories, drivers, trucks, and supply network
* Other tasks as assigned by manager
REQUIREMENTS
* Logistics degree from an accredited university or 3 years logistics experience
* 2-3 years utilizing metrics management across multiple departments
* Locals only, must live within 60 miles of terminal
* Demonstrated ability to make sound, independent operational decisions in a high-pressure environment
* Strong business acumen and familiarity with volume forecasting, order management tools, and KPI tracking
* Experience in route planning, tank utilization, and dispatch systems
* Experience in a multi-site, data-driven dispatch environment with exposure to business metrics and cross-functional coordination
* Proficiency in Excel, dispatch optimization tools, and reporting systems
* Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and safety compliance
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact across departments and leadership levels
* Analytical mindset with strong time management, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize competing demands
* Strong ability to thrive in a fast-paced, change-oriented, high-pressure work environment
