- Experience working with and supporting early literacy skills.
- Demonstrate and provide highly effective and intensive instruction to maximize the achievement of identified struggling readers.
- Work collaboratively with the R2S/CERDEP Summer Camp Administration, the Academic Department to plan and implement daily instruction, interventions, and small group instruction within the classroom setting.
- Understanding of and ability to administer results from formative reading assessments, such as MAP Growth, MAP Reading Fluency, LETRS Spelling Screener, and LETRS Phonics and Word Reading Survey.
- Maintain accurate student records and progress monitoring documentation.
- Participate in debriefing sessions and surveys with the Summer Reading Camp teachers, assistants, students, and parents.
- Daily supervision of students during Summer Reading Camp, including lunch, recess, and transportation.
- Attend and participate in required orientation/training provided prior to summer camp.
- Other responsibilities as required by the Summer Reading Camp Administrator.

Position Title: Summer Reading Camp Teacher
Salary/Pay Scale: $6,700
Requirements: Requires a Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field, supplemented by at least one (1) year of teaching experience, preferably in reading/literacy. Master's degree in Reading, Language and Literacy is preferred, but not required. Must possess a valid Teacher certificate from the South Carolina State Board of Education. Must possess a valid state driver's license. Previous summer reading camp teaching experience is preferred, but not required.

Description: Under limited supervision from the R2S/CERDEP Administrators and the Academic Department, the Summer Reading Camp Teacher will provide intensive literacy instruction to students enrolled in the R2S Summer Reading Camp. Teacher responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Salary/Pay Scale: $6,700 for the duration of the summer camp and to fulfill the responsibilities of the position. Quoted stipend is dependent upon full attendance throughout the camp and required training. This position is temporary and is limited to the duration of the R2S/CERDEP Summer Camp 2026.
At a minimum, the staff must be available on the following dates:

June 1 - June 25, 2026 (M-Th)
A minimum of eight (8) hours of supervision, per day, during the Summer Camp is required. Time before and outside of the Summer Camp hours is required and is compensated within the salary computation mentioned above.
