Essential Job Functions
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Assists in performing all of the functions associated with the collection of current and delinquent ad-valorem and non-ad-valorem taxes in conjunction with the Tax Department Specialist.
- Assists with preparation of tax notices, mailings, and coordinates with contractual agencies for mailing of tax bills, reminder notices, and registration renewals.
- Assists in maintaining current taxes, delinquent taxes, tax roll recap, current/delinquent corrections, current/delinquent split-outs, refund checks for current taxes, escrow companies, installment enrollment, installment tax roll, balancing for advertising, ad valorem taxes, non-ad-valorem taxes, tax deeds, tax deed sales, and recapitulation report for BOCC.
- Assists in the preparation of various daily, monthly, and annual reports. Maintains files and reports such as Eminent Domain cases, Bankruptcy records, record files, folder files, and control files with coding systems, and otherwise spatially organizes raw data.
- Assists staff with complex tax transactions and inquires. Assist with customer transactions of the Tax Collector’s office.
- In case of an emergency or crisis situation (hurricane, flood, etc.) the position is required to respond/ perform recovery duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
- Employees hired on or after February 1, 2016, must be a tobacco-free person, both on and off the job, for at least 1 year immediately preceding application and maintain the same tobacco-free status throughout the term of employment.
- Face tattoos (from ear to ear and hairline of the forehead to the bottom of the chin) are prohibited.
- Maintains regular physical attendance as assigned at one of the County’s offices or work facilities as required.
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Knowledge of software applications such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Ability to multi-task while maintaining a high level of concentration and accuracy despite constant interruptions
- Ability to utilize mathematical formulas; to add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers; to determine percentages and decimals, to analyze statistical data
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with management, employees, employee representatives, business professionals, and the general public utilizing tact and diplomacy
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing utilizing proper English (grammar, punctuation, spelling, and sentence structure)
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instruction, complex policies, laws, and directives
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately in an atmosphere of frequent interruptions
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
- Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma
- Two (2) years customer service experience; Tax Collector related experience preferred
- Valid Florida Driver’s License and a driving record acceptable to the insurance provider

- Ability to access file cabinets for filing and retrieval of data
