SUMMARY: The Dining Services Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily dining operations across Summit Vista’s dining establishments, ensuring exceptional service and smooth functionality. This role bridges the gap between management and staff, providing leadership, training, and hands-on support. The supervisor will manage staff performance, assist with training, ensure sanitation standards, and ensure efficient service across dining rooms. This position is crucial for delivering high-end dining experiences to our residents and guests
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Leadership & Supervision:
- Oversee dining room operations, ensuring efficiency and compliance with service standards.
- Act as a liaison between waitstaff and management, fostering communication and problem-solving during service.
- Assist with staff scheduling to manage workload and prevent overtime.
- Monitor and provide real-time feedback to improve performance and ensure high service standards.
Training & Mentorship:
- Mentor and train waitstaff, with a focus on developing younger and less experienced team members.
- Provide constructive feedback during employee reviews, helping staff grow within their roles.
Operational Oversight:
- Take responsibility for opening and closing dining facilities, ensuring all health, safety, and sanitation protocols are followed.
- Supervise meal service, ensure food is portioned correctly, plated attractively, and served in a timely manner.
- Assist with the setup and execution of special functions for residents and staff.
Service Excellence:
- Ensure guests receive high-quality service and address any issues that arise during shifts, escalating them to management if needed.
- Encourage a positive and professional environment where teamwork, respect, and growth are prioritized.
Cost Efficiency:
- Assist management in reducing operational costs by providing efficient oversight and identifying areas for improvement.
- Ensure efficient time management during slower periods and help monitor employee break times.
Administrative Support:
- Assist with employee evaluations and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
- Ensure all dining spaces and storage areas are clean, organized, and meet safety standards.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of food service experience, with a preference for fine dining or senior living environments.
- Supervisory experience is highly preferred.
- Strong leadership and mentorship abilities.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED required. Minimum of 1 year of dining room/food service experience, including service and sanitation. Supervisory experience preferred. Experience with Microsoft computer applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to communicate accurate information. Ability to communicate effectively and calmly to residents, visitors and to all levels of staff.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:
Serv-Safe certification. ServSafe certification (or willingness to obtain as required by state or local regulations).
