Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our veterinary team. The ideal candidate will support the medical staff in providing exceptional animal care, assisting with diagnostics, treatments, and client education. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where animal welfare is the top priority, utilizing a broad range of technical skills and veterinary knowledge to ensure optimal health outcomes for our patients.
Duties
- Assist veterinarians with clinical examinations, procedures, and surgeries, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques.
- Perform laboratory tests, prepare samples, and operate diagnostic equipment including X-ray machines.
- Handle various animals including dogs, cats, and equines with proper restraint and handling techniques.
- Monitor anesthesia and assist with animal catheterization and other critical care procedures.
- Maintain detailed medical records and update patient files accurately.
- Provide pet care services such as grooming, feeding, and administering medications as directed.
- Support kennel management by caring for hospitalized animals and ensuring their well-being.
- Educate pet owners on animal health, nutrition, and post-treatment care instructions.
- Assist with pet grooming, dog training, and other client service activities as needed.
Skills
- Proven experience in veterinary settings with knowledge of veterinary terminology and animal physiology.
- Strong animal handling skills including dog handling, animal restraint, and pet care.
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures, X-ray operation, and diagnostic imaging techniques.
- Knowledge of dental terminology and procedures related to veterinary dentistry.
- Experience in animal husbandry, critical care, and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to perform animal catheterization and manage animal anatomy knowledge confidently.
- Excellent communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration.
- Additional qualifications such as kennel experience, equine experience, pet grooming skills, or dog training are advantageous but not mandatory.
