Industrial Paint Shop Manager
Location: Roanoke, TX
Salary: $50,000–$60,000 annually (DOE)
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Industrial Paint Shop Manager to oversee all paint department operations within a manufacturing environment. This leadership role is responsible for managing paint technicians, ensuring product quality, maintaining safety standards, improving production efficiency, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.The ideal candidate has experience in commercial truck, heavy equipment, fleet, automotive, or industrial painting and possesses strong knowledge of industrial coatings, paint systems, surface preparation, and team leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, train, and develop the paint department team.
- Manage daily paint booth operations from surface preparation through final inspection.
- Oversee paint mixing, color matching, coating application, and finish quality.
- Ensure proper preparation of aluminum and steel components.
- Monitor quality standards and troubleshoot paint defects.
- Improve productivity, reduce waste, and support Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
- Coordinate with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Safety teams.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company safety policies.
- Maintain paint department documentation and quality records.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 5 years of industrial, commercial vehicle, truck, heavy equipment, or automotive paint experience.
- 3 years of leadership or supervisory experience.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Industrial paint systems and coatings
- Paint mixing and color matching
- Surface preparation for steel and aluminum
- Spray equipment and paint booth operations
- Ability to read engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience
- OSHA training or certification
- Experience with 5S, Kaizen, or Root Cause Analysis
- ERP or manufacturing software experience
