Summary of Position:
Reporting to the Lab Director, as a Clinical Laboratory Assistant you are responsible for receiving and preparing internal patient samples for urinalysis utilizing an LC-MS system. Strong attention to detail combined with reliable and consistent work are key to this position.
Responsibilities:
- Organizes work by matching computer orders with specimen labeling; sorting specimens; checking labeling; logging specimens; arranging reports for delivery; keeping work surfaces clean and orderly.
- Maintains quality results by running standards and controls, verifying equipment function through routine equipment maintenance and advanced trouble shooting; calibrating equipment utilizing approved testing procedures; monitoring quality control measures and protocols.
- Accurately documenting in EMR system
- Providing updates on testing process as well as reiterating test results if necessary
- Contributes to a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, physicians and co-workers by following established standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
- Maintains patient confidence by keeping laboratory information confidential.
- Performs other laboratory duties as assigned.
Skills And Abilities:
- Must be responsive and comfortable handling and processing urine samples
- Detail-oriented, with an emphasis on precision when accomplishing laboratory tasks
Education And Experience:
- Experience using eClinicalWorks or other EHR system preferred
- 1 year clinical experience preferred
- Associates Degree required, Bachelor's Degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Prior experience with LC-MS preferred
- This is a full-time position located in our lab space at our Southern Pines location
