Industrial Rigging Cost Estimator
We are looking for a skilled Industrial Rigging Cost Estimator to produce precise, defensible pricing for industrial projects ranging from straightforward scopes to highly complex undertakings. This position works closely with Business Development, Sales, and Operations to clearly define scope, assemble thorough bid packages, cultivate vendor and customer relationships, and support long-term growth initiatives. The estimator is instrumental in delivering competitive proposals that reflect safety expectations, operational feasibility, schedule demands, and targeted profitability.
Primary DutiesCost Estimating & Bid Preparation
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and project requirements to develop accurate labor, equipment, material, subcontractor, and indirect cost estimates.
- Create comprehensive, clearly supported proposals that align with margin objectives and improve bid success rates.
- Integrate safe work practices into all estimates in accordance with company safety principles.
- Coordinate with EHS personnel during pre-bid planning to identify potential risks and incorporate mitigation strategies.
- Compile detailed estimate breakdowns for leadership review and approval.
- Meet all bid deadlines and ensure estimates are submitted on schedule.
Vendor, Client, and Internal Engagement
- Solicit and evaluate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors while maintaining long-term, mutually beneficial relationships.
- Work in close coordination with Sales and Operations to ensure scope, assumptions, and execution plans are aligned.
- Support active projects by reviewing job cost data, pricing change orders, and performing site visits when scope modifications warrant.
- Assist with forecasting and reporting by monitoring estimate activity, backlog, and sales pipeline data.
Collaboration & Professional Standards
- Partner effectively with cross-functional teams to support company-wide objectives.
- Uphold company values and professionalism in all dealings with clients, vendors, and coworkers.
- Complete additional responsibilities as needed to support customer and project requirements.
- Travel as necessary for site assessments, project reviews, and client discussions.
Qualifications & Experience
- At least four (4) years of experience in industrial construction environments.
- Background in technical estimating and/or industrial sales with client interaction.
- Proven success in building, managing, and analyzing project budgets.
- Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Demonstrated track record of delivering accurate estimates within aggressive timelines.

- Strong numerical aptitude and analytical skills, particularly with spreadsheets.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; working knowledge of the full Microsoft Office suite.

- Experience with negotiations, cost forecasting, and change-order management.
- Ability to remain flexible and effective in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage client relationships and resolve conflicts.

- Capacity to manage multiple bids and competing deadlines simultaneously.
Education
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, technical sales, or a related discipline preferred.
- Comparable combinations of education and hands-on rigging or industrial project experience will be evaluated.
