Job Title: Conveyor Mechanic (15 Openings)

Project Duration: 10 months initially (TX → CT transition)
Project Overview
Summit Skilled Solutions is hiring 15 Conveyor Mechanics for a series of conveyor projects starting in Texas and transitioning to Connecticut. This role begins with immediate installation work in TX and progresses into paid training and long-term placement in CT.
Compensation
- Texas Phase:
- $30/hour
- $90/day per diem paid for all days
- 50–60 hours/week
- Connecticut Phase (Conversion):
- Direct hire with client
- Increased hourly rate higher per diem
Key Responsibilities
- Install conveyor systems across active job sites in TX to demonstrate your skills/capabilities
- Once proven, switch over to completing the required trainings (paid with per diem)
- Once required trainings are completed, in person training in TX will be done to get the R8 licensing
- Travel from TX to CT as project progresses
Required Qualifications
- Prior conveyor installation or maintenance experience
- Ability to read and follow prints
- Personal tools required for mechanical work
- Standard PPE (hard hat, boots, safety gear)
- Willingness to travel and work 50–60 hours/week
- Getting the required trainings
- Obtaining the notarized letter for 2,000 hours worked
Training & Certification Path (Paid with Per Diem)
After demonstrating performance in TX, mechanics will transition into a structured certification phase if not already certified:
- Certifications included:
- Fall Protection
- MEWP (Mobile Elevated Work Platforms)
- CPR / First Aid
- OSHA 30
- R8 Journeyman Conveyor License
- Compensation during training:
- Paid hourly per diem while completing coursework (completed from hotel)
- End Goal:
- Qualification for R8 Conveyor Journeyman License (CT requirement)
R8 Licensing Requirements
- 70 hours of formal training (whatever you are lacking will be provided and paid for)
- 2,000 on-the-job hours from past employers notarized
