What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Clerk position at Summit Ridge Holdings?
Accounting Clerk — Tampa, FL
A missing invoice, an incorrect figure, or an unrecorded payment can affect far more than one spreadsheet. As an Accounting Clerk, you’ll help keep financial information accurate, organized, and ready when the business needs it.
You’ll work with the Accounting Manager and wider office team, learning how everyday transactions move through a business. This is a practical opportunity to build experience in bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial administration.
Three areas you’ll support
Money coming in
- Record customer payments and update account information.
- Prepare invoices and check that billing details are complete.
- Follow up internally when information is missing.
- Help maintain accurate accounts receivable records.
Money going out
- Review vendor invoices, receipts, and purchase information.
- Enter bills and expenses into the accounting system.
- Match documents and confirm that approvals are recorded.
- Assist with accounts payable preparation and payment records.
Keeping everything balanced
- Enter financial information accurately and on time.
- Compare statements, transactions, and supporting documents.
- Investigate straightforward differences with guidance.
- Organize digital files and maintain clear financial records.
- Assist with reports and routine month-end tasks.
A good starting point
You may have developed your skills through coursework, an internship, retail, cash handling, office support, customer service, or managing information in another setting. Professional accounting experience isn’t required.
What matters most is that you:
- Feel comfortable working with numbers and spreadsheets.
- Pay attention to names, dates, totals, and reference numbers.
- Keep information organized and handle it responsibly.
- Communicate professionally when asking for clarification.
- Can follow a process while learning why each step matters.
- Take ownership of correcting mistakes and completing tasks.
Familiarity with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets is useful, but training will be provided on the company’s accounting software and internal procedures.
