Lead Teacher – Child Care Center

The Lead Teacher is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment that supports the developmental needs of young children. This role involves designing and implementing age-appropriate curriculum, supervising classroom staff, ensuring compliance with licensing regulations, and building strong partnerships with families.

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum & Instruction

• Implement age-appropriate lesson plans that promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development



• Foster a stimulating learning environment that encourages curiosity, exploration, and creativity


• Observe and assess children’s development and adapt to meet individual needs



• Incorporate play-based and hands-on learning experiences

Classroom Management

• Maintain a structured, organized, and positive classroom environment



• Establish and reinforce classroom routines, expectations, and behavior management strategies



• Ensure a clean, safe, and developmentally appropriate space for children

Staff Leadership & Collaboration

• Supervise and support assistants



• Delegate tasks effectively to ensure smooth classroom operations


• Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to team members



• Collaborate with administration and other staff to maintain program consistency

Health, Safety & Compliance

• Ensure full compliance with all state licensing regulations and center policies



• Monitor the health and safety of children, including proper supervision and incident reporting



• Maintain cleanliness standards

Family Communication & Engagement

• Maintain regular, positive communication with families regarding children’s progress and daily activities



• Address parent questions or concerns in a professional and timely manner



• Support family engagement activities and center events

Documentation

• Keep accurate records of attendance, developmental progress, and classroom activities

• Demonstrate strong leadership, organization, and communication skills



• Show patience, flexibility, and a genuine passion for working with children


• Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times



• Participate in ongoing professional development and training as required by licensing
