Position Overview: The Project Scheduler at Summit Line Construction is responsible for developing, maintaining, and updating detailed Primavera P6 CPM schedules that ensure all milestones are met on time and within budget. This role requires close collaboration with the management team, project managers, field supervision, and material procurement teams to ensure the smooth execution of high-voltage transmission, distribution, and substation construction and maintenance projects.

Key Responsibilities

What You'll Do

  • Schedule Development
  • Schedule the project in logical steps and budget the time required to meet critical project milestones.
  • Develop and maintain master schedules in collaboration with the management team, ensuring that all phases of the project are properly planned and accounted for.
  • Break down the master schedule into multiple 3-week look-ahead schedules, coordinating with crews and providing timely notifications to customers.
  • Build activity logic in Primavera P6, establishing predecessor and successor relationships and applying only those constraints required to reflect genuine project restrictions.
  • Establish the schedule baseline with the project manager, documenting the scope, logic, and constraints the baseline reflects.
  • Independently develop and maintain assigned project schedules; major baseline revisions, logic changes affecting contractual milestones, recovery plans, and time impact analyses (TIAs) are subject to Project Controls review and approval.
  • Develop and maintain the project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) in accordance with project controls and estimating standards.
  • Resource-load schedules with direct labor and equipment to support crew planning and manpower forecasting.
  • Perform all scheduling work in accordance with Summit Line Project Controls procedures, CPM Technical Standards & Requirements, contractual scheduling specifications, and approved project-specific requirements.
  • Tracking and Updating
  • Track baseline schedules and update them on a weekly basis to reflect any changes or delays, ensuring the schedule remains aligned with project goals.
  • Monitor project progress against the schedule, identify deviations, and propose corrective actions to keep the project on track.
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure schedule updates are accurate and reflect the current project status.
  • Perform total float and critical path analysis each update cycle, flagging activities with negative float or eroding float to the project manager.
  • Perform schedule QA/QC and health analysis in accordance with Summit Line CPM Technical Standards & Requirements, contractual scheduling specifications, and applicable industry standards, including DCMA 14-point metrics where required; identify and correct logic deficiencies in accordance with those standards.
  • Reporting
  • Develop and generate insightful reports from scheduling software, providing detailed analyses of project timelines, resource allocation, and potential risks.
  • Communicate schedule updates and critical path analyses to project stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment with Summit Line's standards.
  • Prepare monthly schedule narrative reports covering progress, critical path movement, float consumption, and any recovery actions underway.
  • Prepare time impact analyses (TIAs) for change orders, differing site conditions, and weather events for review by the Project Controls Manager or designated Senior Scheduler.
  • Confirm schedules meet contractual submittal formats, review cycles, and owner reporting requirements.
  • Material Coordination
  • Collaborate with the material procurement team to track material lead times and shipping dates, ensuring that materials are available when needed and that project schedules are not delayed.
  • Integrate material availability into the project schedule to maintain work continuity and prevent delays.

Consultation and Collaboration

  • Consult with project managers and field supervision to develop crew assignments, tasks, and subtasks that align with the overall project schedule and meet Summit Line's high standards.
  • Facilitate regular schedule review meetings with project teams to ensure alignment and address any potential issues early on.

Qualifications

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field, OR equivalent demonstrated construction scheduling or project controls experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in project scheduling, preferably in the electrical infrastructure construction industry.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6, including the ability to independently build, baseline, update, analyze, and report an assigned project schedule.
  • Working knowledge of critical path methodology (CPM), including predecessor and successor logic, constraint use, total float, and critical path identification.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining schedule baselines and performing progress, variance, and float analysis.
  • Experience preparing schedule narratives and supporting time impact analyses (TIAs).
