Business Manager
The Business Manager for Springfield Local School District oversees the non-instructional, daily operations of the district, manages support staff, and ensure safe, clean, and well-equipped learning environments while maintaining fiscal responsibility.
Core Responsibilities
- Operations Management: Directs and supervises critical non-instructional departments, including Food Services, Transportation, Maintenance, Custodial, and Technology.
- Facility Oversight: Works with district leadership to manage the upkeep, safety, and long-term capital planning for school buildings and grounds.
- Personnel Supervision: Evaluates, manages, and supports classified personnel such as bus drivers, cafeteria workers, and custodians.
- Financial & Resource Stewardship: Collaborates closely with the district Treasurer/CFO to ensure operational expenses align with the district's budget and financial recovery goals.
- Board & Community Relations: Attends Board of Education meetings, prepares operational reports, and acts as a liaison to parents, staff, and the community.
Qualifications
- Licensure: Typically requires a valid School Business Manager License issued by the Ohio Department of Education, though districts may permit qualified candidates to serve while in the process of obtaining or renewing it.
- Leadership Skills: Requires strong organizational and diplomatic skills to manage large teams, handle crises, and maintain positive public relations.
