Description
Summit County Government is seeking a knowledgeable and collaborative Human Resources Generalist to perform a broad range of complex analytical, professional, technical, and administrative human resources functions in support of County departments. This position is ideal for an HR professional with experience across multiple HR disciplines who enjoys partnering with leaders and employees to provide practical, customer-focused solutions.
Examples of Duties
The successful candidate will have significant experience managing employee relations matters, facilitating conflict resolution, conducting workplace investigations, advising supervisors on personnel matters, applying personnel policies consistently, and partnering with leadership to resolve complex workplace issues. Experience supporting a unionized workforce and working with collective bargaining agreements is strongly preferred.
This role requires a professional who combines strong technical HR knowledge with excellent judgment, communication, and relationship-building skills. The ideal candidate is an effective communicator who can present information clearly, navigate sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion, and build trust with employees, supervisors, and leadership. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, sound critical thinking, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment are essential. The successful candidate will also demonstrate initiative, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous improvement while handling confidential and sensitive information with the highest level of integrity.
This position primarily supports the human resources needs of County departments, with a significant focus on partnering with the Transit Department and Summit Stage on employee relations, compliance, and operational HR matters.
This is an exempt, full-time, in-office position. The regular work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Additional hours may be required to support investigations, employee meetings, training, emergency response, or other operational needs.Typical Qualifications
3 years HR experience in an HR benefit, recruitment, collective bargaining agreements/union relations, drug and alcohol programs, worker’s compensation, property & liability claims, workplace investigations and/or HR employee relations role is required. Applicants must have previous HR experience to be considered for this position.
Must have a valid Colorado driver’s license at the time of appointment and throughout employment.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND FORMAL TRAINING:- A Bachelor’s degree in human resources or other related field is required (equivalent experience may be considered).
- Public sector experience, SPHR or PHR certification, master’s degree or other higher education or related training is desired.
- Competent in Microsoft Suites
