Job Summary
Reporting directly to the Supervisor, Facilities, the Carpenter/Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing general maintenance and repairs for agency equipment and facilities including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems for Summit County Children Services (SCCS).

Responsibilities
· Performs maintenance and repair work on plumbing fixture systems (e.g., installs faucets, valves, drinking fountains, sinks, utility tubs, water heaters, water lines, drains, replace packing, valve inserts). Unplug and snakes drain lines.
· Performs carpentry work and repairs, general maintenance, interior and exterior painting, and ensures the cleanliness of the campus by picking up trash and removing general debris.
· Performs minor snow/ice removal and assists with minor groundskeeping work to ensure safety of staff and visitors to the campus.
· Performs maintenance and repair work on minor electrical systems; Monitors HVAC systems and adjusts thermostats/equipment as needed; Works closely with contracted personnel.
· Provides regular preventative maintenance on all agency vehicles, entering all information into the Vehicle Manager software and reporting any issues or concerns to immediate supervisor.
· Sets ups conference/all-purpose rooms for various functions; Moves furniture, equipment, and office supplies, sets up tables, chairs, and miscellaneous items as directed. Maintains the shop and equipment in a clean and orderly manner.
· Receives deliveries and distributes to appropriate departments; Fills requisitions when received and maintains inventory for office supply room; Delivers office supplies; Picks up and delivers donations as directed.
· Completes work orders, other paperwork and maintains inventory of equipment and supplies; Estimates and orders materials; Gathers data and completes statistical reports as requested by supervisor or chain of command.
· Performs other related duties as assigned including emergency clean ups and serves as member of the agency’s Emergency Response Team (ERT).
· Assists other staff within Department as needed; works as a team to ensure work is completed accurately and within a timely manner; Provides support/coverage within the same bargaining unit classification and/or layoff series as needed/directed.
· Assists in the orientation/shadowing of agency staff as required by the employee’s chain of command.
· Attends and participates in supervision meetings as established by the employee’s chain of command and based on the needs of the worker/department; Attends and participates in all agency meetings including unit, department, division, and all staff meetings.
· Attends trainings as identified by the chain of command or where otherwise required/directed.
· Adheres to all agency policies and procedures, including but not limited to Professional Ethics and Conflict of Interest policies.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required; Associated Degree in Business or Social Services related field preferred. Two (2) years’ experience working in general maintenance position or specific trade required. General Maintenance or trade certification preferred.
