What are the responsibilities and job description for the Renewable Estimator position at Summit Construction Advisors?
We’re partnering with a well-established, nationally recognized electrical contractor to identify a Renewable Estimator to join their growing team in San Diego.
This role sits within a dedicated renewable energy group and will focus on supporting utility-scale solar and energy projects. You’ll work closely with internal teams, clients, and vendors to develop accurate, competitive estimates and support project pursuit efforts.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Review drawings and specifications to define scope and pricing approach
- Perform detailed takeoffs and cost analysis for project scopes and change orders
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing
- Ensure estimates align with project plans, specifications, and timelines
- Prepare scope narratives including inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications
- Support the development and delivery of complete bid packages
What They’re Looking For:
- 2 years of experience in electrical construction estimating
- Exposure to solar, renewable, or large-scale electrical projects is a plus
- Familiarity with takeoff and estimating tools (Accubid experience is a bonus)
- Ability to interpret plans, specs, and translate into accurate pricing
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines

The base salary for this position ranges from $80,000 to $130,000 annually, depending on factors such as experience, skills, and market conditions. This role may also be eligible for bonus opportunities and a comprehensive benefits package.
