Summit Athletic Club located in St. George, UT is looking to hire a Full-Time HR/Payroll Assistant who will also provide administrative support to our
Accountant. This dual-role position is ideal for someone who is organized, confidential, and has experience handling sensitive financial and employee information.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Payroll Administration:

  • Prepare and process accurate and timely payroll on a bi-weekly basis
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure data integrity across systems
  • Calculate and process wage adjustments, retirement bonuses, and deductions
  • Reconcile timesheets and resolve payroll discrepancies or errors
  • Ensure all payroll practices comply with applicable wage laws and tax regulations
  • Calculate PTO, holiday pay, and overtime
  • Familiarity with payroll taxes
  • Undergo workers compensation audits
  • Ability to understand and fulfil wage garnishments
  • ACA/ALE Reporting
  • Employee advance tracking
  • DWS insurance form requests
  • I-9 rules and regulations
  • Independent contractor versus employee rules
  • Verification of commissions across departments
  • Unemployment requests

Compliance & Policy Enforcement:

  • Stay up to date with employment laws, HR best practices, and legal changes at
    the federal, state, and local levels
  • Support the development, implementation, and enforcement of company policies
    and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations, wage and hour laws, equal
    employment opportunity requirements, and other labor-related policies
  • Assist in preparing documentation for internal audits and government reporting
  • Keep current on employment laws, OSHA standards, and internal policy changes

Accounting Support:

  • Assist the company Accountant with day-to-day financial tasks and year-end
    procedures
  • Assist the company Accountant with basic bookkeeping tasks such as invoice
    processing, data entry, preparing journal entries, and account reconciliation
  • Help track and organize expense reports, vendor invoices, and receipts
  • Accrual experience
  • Ability to update amortization schedules
  • Cash management experience
  • General Ledger accounting experience
  • Understanding of financial statements
  • Understanding of GAAP

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration,
    or related field preferred
  • 2 years of HR, payroll, or administrative experience required
  • HR Certification is a plus
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
  • Experience with payroll systems and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks,
    ADP)
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel, Word, Outlook)
