What are the responsibilities and job description for the Floater/Loader Operator/Sawyer position at Summertown Metals, LLC?
Summertown Metals is looking for a floater for the Sawmill. This person needs to have working knowledge of running a loader and a saw. Previous experience is mandatory. This is a full-time position which is eligible for benefits that include medical, dental, vision, accident, critical illness, hospital indemnity, STD, LTD, life, 401K, vacation and PTO.
Job duties, include but are not limited to:
- Perform daily lift and loader inspections.
- Logs are cut and kept loaded or staged at the sawmill.
- Slats are taken out and burned.
- Chainsaw chains are kept sharpened.
- Operates knuckle boom as needed.
- Blocks are cut and set-out for the yard team to pick up.
- Stock Lumber is pulled for each job when needed.
- Boards are inspected for proper cuts.
- Log yard is kept clean and organized.
- The pallet material is cut and stacked orderly.
- Clean and organize work area at the end of each shift.
- Perform daily sawmill inspection.
- Jobs are being picked up from the Sawmill Lead and completed job paperwork has been turned in to the Sawmill Lead.
- The machines are kept in good working condition. Daily, weekly and monthly PMs are performed, and the blades are kept sharpened.
- Maintenance breakdowns are reported to Maintenance any time the machine is down, and the problem is unable to be diagnosed with 10 minutes. Jonathan Duncan is made aware of breakdowns as they occur.
- Clean and organize work area at the end of each shift.
