Bridge Carpenter

Job Summary

Summers- Taylor is seeking a skilled and dedicated Bridge Carpenter to join our expanding construction team. As a Bridge Carpenter, you will play a crucial role in the design, construction, and maintenance of bridge structures, ensuring safety and stability for their intended use. Your expertise will contribute to the creation of durable and high-quality bridge frameworks, supporting various construction projects including highways, railways, and pedestrian walkways. The ideal candidate will have experience with various carpentry techniques and materials, and a solid understanding of structural principles as they relate to bridge building. Summers-Taylor Bridge crew works at a variety of numerous heights working over both land and water. The Carpenter will be responsible for reading, sketching and layout plan work.

Job Duties

• Interpret blueprints and sketches for bridge and construction projects
• Builds and repairs structures on or related to projects using hand and power tools.
• Set and tie steel, as required.
• Pours, grades, and finishes concrete.
• Works in confined spaces, when required.
• Provides flagging and direct to crane operators.
• Drive piling.

Job Requirements

• Proven experience as a carpenter, preferably with a focus on bridge construction
• Must be comfortable and able to work safely at numerous heights over different terrains.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
• Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
• Must be able to work nights, weekends and weekends when required.
• Must pass a drug screen and pre-employment background check.
