We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Activities Assistant to join our team on a part-time basis, primarily working weekends. Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and facilitate a variety of recreational activities tailored to residents’ interests, abilities, and care needs.
- Collaborate with care staff to integrate activities that support residents’ physical, emotional, and cognitive health.
- Assist in coordinating special events, outings, and therapeutic programs that foster community engagement.
- Support residents during activities by providing encouragement, assistance with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living), and ensuring safety protocols are followed.
- Maintain accurate records of participation and resident feedback to continually improve activity offerings.
- Foster an inclusive environment that respects individual preferences, cultural backgrounds, and abilities.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members to promote a positive experience for all participants.
Skills
- Proven experience in event planning or recreational therapy within assisted living or nursing home settings.
- Knowledge of Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, memory care, and senior care best practices.
- Strong background in caregiving, long-term care, or home & community care environments.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage residents with diverse needs and backgrounds.
- Ability to assist with ADLs and adapt activities for varying levels of mobility and cognitive function.
- Effective schedule management skills to coordinate multiple activities simultaneously.
