Location: Four Heroes Elementary School
Hours: 7:45am - 4:15pm
Required Training: Week of June 15th
CLASS SPECIFICATION
I. IDENTIFYING INFORMATION

II. SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT
Under the direction of the Building Administrator this position is responsible to process student attendance records, maintain the automated student attendance system and inform staff and parents on attendance matters and perform assigned clerical duties.
III. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Process student re-entry into school and early dismissals.
2. Use the Attendance Office computer and other facilities to record and monitor daily
attendance by periods.
3. Perform daily contact to parents regarding absences.
4. Respond to parent inquires on attendance matters.
5. Prepare and distribute daily absentee list.
6. Inform grade level administrator of period absences.
7. Counsel with students regarding attendance problems. Inform grade level
administrator of serious or chronic problems.
8. Type, operate office machinery and perform other clerical duties as assigned.
9. Train and supervise student office assistants.
10. Prepare communicable disease report.
11. Prepare certification of absentee listing for the district business office.
12. Model appropriate and cooperative behavior, including protecting confidential
information consistent with district ethical guidelines.
13. Foster and maintain strong productive relationships with district employees,
parents, students, and other community members. Work with a variety of people in
a positive manner.
14. Performs other duties as assigned.

IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A. Education and Experience
1. High school diploma or it’s recognized equivalent (GED)
2. One year of office or clerical experience.
B. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
1. Working knowledge of computer databases and proficient in word processing and
spreadsheet applications.
2. Knowledge of general office procedures and practices.
3. Knowledge of the use of English and conventions of spelling, capitalization and
punctuation.
4. Knowledge of basic computational and record keeping skills.
5. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
6. Demonstrated ability to perform detailed work, maintain records and logs with
accuracy.
7. Ability to work under pressure, meet strict deadlines, and maintain established time
schedules.
8. Ability to communicate effectively in a courteous and professional manner with all
levels of staff, students, and community members whether in person, through email
or via the telephone.
9. Ability to learn and apply District policies and procedures.
10. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
11. Typing speed of 55 words per minute.
12. Must be organized and dependable.
C. Certification and Licenses
1. Background check and fingerprinting.
V. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
1. Clover Park School District secretarial experience.
2. Secretarial Professional Standards Certificate.
3. Type 60 words per minute accurately.
VI. WORKING CONDITIONS
Daily work is performed in a school office. Requires sitting, turning, lifting objects using proper lifting techniques weighing 30 lbs. Must be able to use fingers, hands, arms, legs, vision, hearing, sit or stand for prolonged periods of time. Routinely requires dexterity and balance. Must be able to bend, stretch, twist, walk, reach, carry, push, stoop, crouch, and hear. Exposures will include viewing VDT screens, exposure to dust, fumes, and occasional noise.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Employment with Clover Park School District is conditional pending completion of a Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint background check as required by RCW28A.400.303. (NOTE: All associated background check fees are the employee’s responsibility.) The fingerprint scan must be completed prior to the first day of employment.
