Summary
A detail-oriented and technically skilled CMM Programmer/Operator to support the Quality Assurance Laboratory. The position is responsible for programming and operating coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), Keyence Instant Measurement Systems and 3D scanning equipment among other testing equipment. This position is also responsible for managing plant calibration activities, supporting lab testing processes, and contributing to the overall quality assurance functions.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) Programming & Operation
Program, operate, and troubleshoot CMMs to inspect parts and components to blueprint and CAD specifications
Generate detailed inspection reports and analysis based on CMM data
Optimize inspection programs for repeatability and efficiency
Work with engineering and manufacturing teams to resolve dimensional issues
Keyence Instant Measure and 3D Scanner Systems
Program and operate Keyence Instant Measurement systems and Keyence 3D scanners
Conduct first-article, in-process, and final inspections using Keyence technology
Maintain digital records of scanned data and inspection results
Calibration and Testing
Perform and document internal gauge and equipment calibrations in accordance with plant procedures and IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 standards
Coordinate and manage external calibrations and vendor documentation
Support laboratory testing (e.g., hardness, tensile, dimension, characteristics) as needed
General QA / Lab Support
Support quality investigations and root cause analysis (e.g., 8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa)
Participate in PPAPs, capability studies (Cp/Cpk), and MSA/Gage R&R studies
Maintain lab equipment, workspaces, and documentation in an organized and audit-ready state
Assist with audit preparation and compliance for regulatory and customer-specific requirements
Qualifications:
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in a related field preferred
2 years of experience programming and operating CMMs (preferably with MCOSMOS or similar software)
Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel and basic CAD interpretation
Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
Understanding of 5s concepts for organization and cleanliness
Ability to lift up to 40lbs on a continual basis
Ability to travel to customer facilities as needed
Preferred:
Experience with calibration software (e.g., GAGEpack or similar)
Background in automotive or rubber/urethane manufacturing
Knowledge of statistical analysis tools and methods
Experience with Keyence measurement systems and 3D scanners
Familiarity with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 requirements
