We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Art Dealer / Sales Representative to lead sales efforts at the upcoming SCOPE Art Fair. This role requires a polished, knowledgeable, and highly personable professional who can effectively showcase our artists, engage collectors, and manage all on-site sales activity. The ideal candidate has a strong background in contemporary art, proven art-fair sales experience, and the ability to represent our gallery with confidence and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
Showcase and Present Artwork:
Professionally present exhibited works to collectors, curators, advisors, and visitors, articulating artists’ concepts, techniques, and market positioning.
Drive Sales Performance:
Proactively identify sales opportunities, engage prospective buyers, and close transactions throughout the fair.
Client Engagement & Relationship Building:
Cultivate relationships with new and existing collectors, maintain exceptional customer service, and ensure a welcoming booth environment.
Booth Management:
Oversee booth organization, presentation, and inventory, ensuring artworks are displayed to the highest standard and informational material is well maintained.
Sales Documentation & Coordination:
Process invoices, manage red dots, coordinate shipping or pickup arrangements, and keep accurate records of all sales and leads.
Market Knowledge:
Communicate confidently about contemporary art trends, pricing, artists’ backgrounds, and the gallery’s program.
Representation of the Gallery:
Serve as an articulate, knowledgeable, and professional ambassador for the gallery throughout the duration of the fair.
Qualifications
Prior experience as an art dealer, gallery sales associate, or art-fair sales representative.
Strong knowledge of contemporary art and the international art market.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Proven track record of closing sales in fast-paced environments.
Well-presented, confident, and able to interact with high-level collectors and industry professionals.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ability to work the full duration of SCOPE Art Fair, including setup and breakdown days, extended hours, and peak traffic periods.
Compensation
Competitive, commensurate with experience. May include base pay plus commission on sales.
