What are the responsibilities and job description for the RRT Registered PRN position at Sullivan County Community Hospital?
Assists in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with pulmonary disorders. Collects and analyzes sputum, blood, and breath specimens to determine levels of oxygen, carbon dioxide, and other gases. Also measures the lung capacity a patient to determine if there is an impairment.
Education:
Graduate of an accredited school for Respiratory Therapy. Licensed by the State of Indiana as a Registered Respiratory Therapist
Experience:
At least one year of on-the-job training preferred.
Job Knowledge:
Knowledge of current trends and techniques in the respiratory practice.
Special Demands:
Respiratory Licensure, CPR, ACLS, PALS, NRP
JOB-SPECIFIC CRITERIA
Basic Therapy Modalities. Performs the following modalities: oxygen therapy, incentive spirometry, aerosol treatments, flutter, pulse oximetry, EKG’s, MDI. Use and understanding of respiratory medications. Adjusts therapy as needed per protocol. Document and charge patient effectively
Diagnostic procedures and special procedures/ventilator system. Pulmonary function test, stress test, holters, EEG’s, arterial blood gas and analysis, C-section and delivery standby, CPR, intubation, Code Blue and patient’s in distress codes, airway suctioning. Set up ventilators as ordered by physician or via RT parameters. Understanding of modes of ventilation and vent parameters. Checks and maintains equipment while in use. Checks patient and equipment and document results by policy. Cleans and checks ventilator function after use. Set up and use of BiPAP and CPAP equipment via RT parameters. Weens ventilators as patient’s test results indicates. Sleep studies if applicable.
Miscellaneous. Participates in SQM as requested. Familiar with infection control policies. Familiar with isolation procedures. Demonstrate the ability for assessment, education, treatments and/or care of the neonate, pediatrician adolescent and geriatric patient. Demonstrates the knowledge of growth and development of the neonate, pediatric and adolescent patient. Demonstrates the understanding of the range treatment needed by the neonate, pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patient.
