POSITION SUMMARY:

Come lead the pros at the Sugarbush Ski and Ride School for your dream winter as the Sugarbush Ski and Ride Director! As the best school in the east, we pride ourselves on our storied past, incredible terrain, and unforgettable experiences for our guests and staff. While working at Sugarbush, the Ski and Ride School Director will lead top-notch educators, while joining a community unlike anywhere else in the world. This is a Flex-year-round position with 9 months on and 3 months off. The starting salary for this role is $62,000/year.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish departmental vision and develop supervisory team to carry out the plan.
  • Oversee work schedules and the assignment of staff to specific work areas/programs and overall Ski & Ride School training program.
  • Communicate all facets of resort operations to supervisory and team lead staff on a weekly basis.
  • Resolve guest concerns involving group placement, teaching effectiveness, and safety, program information, reservations, unusual requests or problems.
  • Manage, train and empower front line ski and ride staff to solve guest problems in a timely manner.
  • Work with Training Supervisor to continue development of comprehensive training program involving teaching improvement, skiing/riding improvement, product knowledge, professional development, and safety awareness and risk management.
  • Uphold the highest levels of safety on varied terrain in a mountain environment, with unpredictable winter weather conditions in a fast paced, potentially high-pressure environment.
  • Oversee operational responsibilities of children's programs including registration process, directing guests to appropriate equipment fitting source, upkeep of outdoor teaching areas, and cleanliness of facilities.
  • Uphold Company guidelines and the Vermont Skier Safety Act rules and regulations.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience leading and developing a high functioning department is required.
  • Minimum BA/BS level degree, preferably in Physical education, recreation, education or management desirable.
  • Prefer a minimum of 8 years in ski/ride education field.
  • Superior ski/ride teaching and communication skills.
  • Good planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to deal with guests and staff concerns in a professional and confidential manner.
  • Experience working with children is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Spanish language is a plus.
  • PSIA/AASI Level I, Level II or Level III Certification is preferred.
  • USSA Certifications preferred.
  • Prior ski racing, freestyle background is a plus.
  • Available to work holidays and weekends.
  • Successfully complete mandatory on snow training.
  • Must be able to stand and walk on snow for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to bend, squat and lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work outside in inclement weather within a mountain environment.
