Sugar Hill Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced, motivated, and compassionate Kennel Manager to lead our boarding and daycare team. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about animal care, enjoys working hands-on with dogs, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

As the Kennel Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, well-being, and daily care of our boarding and daycare pets while providing leadership and support to the kennel team.

Physical Stamina

This is a physically demanding role that requires standing, walking, bending, lifting, and working outdoors for extended periods. Responsibilities include supervising large groups of dogs in daycare, engaging them in play, managing group dynamics, and safely intervening when conflicts arise.

Pet owners trust us with their beloved companions. The Kennel Manager must demonstrate professionalism, responsibility, and sound judgment in all aspects of animal care and team leadership.

Schedule Expectations

Kennel Managers may be required to work a flexible schedule that includes early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. This position carries overall responsibility for ensuring all kennel operations and daily tasks are completed efficiently and to hospital standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the kennel, boarding, and daycare facilities
  • Hire, train, coach, and supervise kennel team members
  • Develop and manage employee schedules
  • Establish, implement, and enforce kennel policies and procedures
  • Ensure all kennels, runs, and common areas are maintained in a clean and sanitary condition
  • Monitor and ensure proper feeding, exercise, enrichment, and overall care of all animals
  • Observe and assess animal behavior to promote a safe environment for pets and staff
  • Maintain high standards of customer service and client communication
  • Support hospital leadership in creating a positive and productive team culture

Compensation

Compensation is based on experience and qualifications. Experienced candidates may start at $19.00 per hour, with opportunities for growth based on performance and leadership ability.

Qualifications

While a degree or formal certification is not required, candidates must have substantial professional experience working with animals.

Preferred Experience

  • Veterinary Technician
  • Kennel Assistant
  • Kennel Supervisor or Manager
  • Dog Daycare Attendant
  • Other professional animal care roles

The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, a passion for animal welfare, and the ability to effectively manage both people and pets in a dynamic env
