Sugar Foods LLC is a privately owned company with production facilities in Georgia, Massachusetts, California, and Mexico. Our products are sold and distributed throughout the U.S. and Canada. Sugar Foods manufactures and packages croutons, tortilla chips, crispy toppings, as well as cheese-based toppings. Additionally, Sugar Foods packages a variety of items including sugar, sweeteners, powdered creamer, and dried fruits and nuts.

Position Summary for the Procurement Manager

Sugar Foods operates food manufacturing, packaging, and distribution facilities to serve over 5,000 customers. The stability of our processes, and the consistency and quality of our products are vital to the delivery of our promise to our customers. Effective planning of manufacturing processes for efficient production, and timely delivery on customer expectations is essential to our mission. 

The Procurement Manager reports to the Sr. Director of Packaging Procurement, interfaces directly with supply partners and serves as a go-to for internal stakeholders including but not limited to, supply chain planning, tactical buying, customer service, sales and marketing. Our Procurement Manager will be a passionate individual with a base knowledge of procurement and excellent analytical and communication skills. 
 

The primary mission for our Procurement Manager will be to help build strong, mutually beneficial relationships with supply “partners.” They will participate in the selection of new supply partners and lead the onboarding process. They will also ensure performance metrics are met by existing suppliers and conduct quarterly business reviews with our strategic partners. 

Job Responsibilities for Procurement Manager

• Build and maintain strong supply partnerships.
• Manage spend for a portfolio of commodities in various industries

• Develop and drive cost savings and cost avoidance initiatives.
• Perform analysis and develop plans for pricing negotiations.
• Conduct ongoing market analysis to forecast pricing changes
• Keep Pricing team and Leadership informed of potential cost changes for key materials and illustrate impact to our business.
• Manage RFP, supplier onboarding and compliance processes.
• Monitor performance of supply partners by creating and maintaining scorecards and conducting quarterly business reviews.
• Review existing contracts with suppliers and vendors to ensure on-going feasibility.
• Partner with supply chain, warehouse ops, etc. on inventory strategies, quality and overall material performance 
• Resolve “root cause” for pricing discrepancies and approve invoices when necessary.
• Perform risk assessments on potential contracts and agreements.
• Serve as champion for a key strategic procurement initiative
• Ensure pricing and other key information is up to date in our system as well as our partners. 

Qualification Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, supply chain or related field
• 5 Years of Supply Chain or related field
• Base level knowledge of procurement/sourcing
• Experience managing commodities – market research, futures contracts, and hedging. 
• Strong analytical skills and ability to transform data into useful information.
• Strong leadership and influencing skills.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Travel up to 25%.
• Full time in the office in Villa Rica, GA with some remote flexibility
• Multi-tasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
• Highly organized and detail oriented.
• Knowledge of preparing and reviewing contracts, invoicing, and negotiation terms

Qualification Preferences:

• Experience procuring some the following commodities listed in order of importance: wheat/flour/bread, sugar, spices, edible oils (canola, sunflower), fruit and tree nuts
