Sugar Bowl Resort is seeking a Lift Maintenance Mechanic Level 1, to join our year-round Lift Maintenance team. In this role, you'll build real, hands-on mechanical skills - from grip inspection and lift line adjustment to sheave and grip rebuilding - while keeping our lifts running safely for every guest who rides them.

You'll be trained across both our summer and winter maintenance programs, learning to perform start-up and shut-down procedures, use a wide range of hand and power tools, and grow into a technician who can inspect towers, change line sheaves, and handle daily, weekly, and monthly checks with increasing independence.

Situated atop beautiful Donner Summit, Sugar Bowl has a storied past with ties to Austrian ski culture, Hollywood and Walt Disney. What You’ll do:

Training & Skill Development

·         Complete snowmobile operator training.

·         Build strong general mechanical skills and safe, professional work practices.

·         Learn all switch locations and stop readouts across the lift fleet.

·         Develop a solid understanding of safe work practices in all aspects of lift maintenance.

Inspections & Maintenance

·         Inspect towers and change line sheaves.

·         Perform daily checks with sound judgment and attention to detail.

·         Perform all weekly and monthly checks.

·         Assist with detach terminal work.

Equipment & Operations

·         Start all lifts on APU (Auxiliary Power Unit).

·         Operate over-the-snow transport equipment.

·         Maintain a basic tool set required for daily maintenance work.

On-Mountain & Team Expectations

·         Maintain advanced-intermediate skiing or snowboarding ability to safely access all areas of the mountain.

·         Attend all required meetings.

 

Physical Requirements:

·         Ability to climb lift towers and work at heights, using appropriate safety equipment.

·         Ability to lift and carry tools and equipment up to 50 lbs.

·         Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme cold, wind, and snow.

·         Ability to stand, kneel, crouch, and use hand/power tools for extended periods.

·         Ability to operate a snowmobile and over-the-snow transport equipment safely.

·         Ability to ski or snowboard at an advanced-intermediate level to access all lift and mountain areas.

·         Manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude for precision maintenance and repair work.
