What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounts Receivable/Collections Specialist position at Suffolk County Distribution Center?

Objective of position: responsible for the opening of new accounts, establishing credit limits, payment terms and collection of accounts receivable.
Duties and responsibilities:

  • Review credit applications for prospective customer
  • Input and review customer master file for new customers
  • Work closely with customers as well as sales team on collection matters
  • Report on delinquent accounts
  • Research and resolve payment discrepancies
  • Account reconciliation
  • Review credit hold and approve as appropriate
  • Process credit card charges
  • Work closely with collection agencies on delinquent accounts.
  • All other duties assigned by management

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Sound decision making skills
  • Work well in a team environment
  • Able to work with a diverse group of people
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Should have basic knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within the A/R and collections field
  • Proficiency in computer applications including excel, outlook and word

Experience/Education:

Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent with 2 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00 - $33.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
