What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plant Quality Manager position at Success Source Inc?
The Plant Quality Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing internal Quality systems at every step of the production process to ensure that each production area is able to produce product on time and “on spec”, which will lead to an improvement in the plant’s overall operating efficiency and positively impact credibility with the customer.
Externally, this individual will serve as an “ombudsman”, working proactively with customers on quality/delivery issues.
The business has a diverse customer base for its product lines: Automotive, Aerospace, Energy Industry, Medical, Furniture, Electrical, Industrial, Apparel, and White Goods.
Key responsibilities
- Quality System Management: Develop, implement, and manage quality control policies, procedures, and systems to ensure products meet internal and external standards.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and mentor quality assurance staff, and manage their performance.
- Process Control: Conduct regular audits and inspections of manufacturing processes, equipment, and final products to ensure compliance.
- Problem-Solving: Lead investigations to identify the root cause of quality issues and implement corrective and preventative actions.
- Data Analysis: Collect, analyze, and report on quality data and trends to identify areas for improvement.
- Continuous Improvement: Champion and implement continuous improvement initiatives using data-driven methods to enhance quality and efficiency.
- Compliance: Ensure the plant complies with all relevant industry standards (e.g., ISO), government regulations, and company policies.
- Collaboration: Work closely with production, engineering, and other departments to resolve quality concerns and ensure smooth new product launches.
- Reporting: Prepare and present quality performance reports to senior management.
- Budget Management: Manage the quality assurance department's budget and monitor operational expenses.
Professional Qualifications
- At least 3 years of Plant Quality Systems Management with leadership responsibility.
- Solid background in ISO 9001, IATF 16949 and AS 9100 quality standards.
- Understanding of tools (APQP, Standardized Work, OEE and ToC) and Lean methodologies in a TPS environment.
- Success in designing and implementing robust Quality programs and systems.
- A Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or industrial engineering or a technical degree is highly preferred.
