Job Title: Hall Monitor (Part-Time)
Reports To: Building Principal or Assistant Principal 
Employment Type: Part-Time, Non-Exempt 
Grade Levels Served: Pre-K through 8th Grade

Minimum Qualifications
    High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
    Prior experience working with children in a school, childcare, or youth-serving setting preferred
    Ability to interact effectively and patiently with students across a wide developmental range (ages 3�14)
    Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    Ability to remain calm and use sound judgment in stressful or fast-moving situations
    Reliable, punctual, and able to stand/walk for extended periods
    Must pass required background checks, including fingerprinting and child abuse clearance, per district and state requirements

Position Summary
The Hall Monitor is responsible for maintaining a safe, orderly, and supportive environment throughout the school building during passing periods, arrival/dismissal, lunch, and other designated times. This position plays a key role in supervising student movement, enforcing school policies, and serving as a visible, approachable adult presence who helps ensure the physical safety and well-being of students ranging from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    Monitor hallways, stairwells, restrooms, entryways, and common areas during passing periods, breakfast/lunch, recess, and arrival/dismissal times
    Supervise student behavior and enforce school rules and code of conduct in a fair, consistent, and age-appropriate manner
    Assist younger students (Pre-K�2nd grade) with navigating the building safely, including walking to and from classrooms as needed
    De-escalate minor conflicts or disruptive behavior and redirect students appropriately
    Report safety concerns, policy violations, or incidents to administration promptly and accurately
    Check hall passes and ensure students are where they are supposed to be during class time
    Respond to emergencies (medical, behavioral, or safety-related) by alerting appropriate staff and following building emergency protocols
    Assist with maintaining orderly lines and safe movement during fire drills and other emergency drills
    Help supervise designated entry/exit points to monitor visitor access in accordance with school security procedures
    Communicate respectfully and professionally with students, staff, parents, and visitors
    Support a positive school climate by modeling appropriate behavior and building rapport with students
    Perform other related duties as assigned by administration
    Ability to stand, walk, and patrol the building for extended periods during each shift
    Ability to move quickly to respond to incidents throughout the building
    Occasional lifting (up to 25lbs) may be required (e.g., assisting with equipment or supplies)

Terms of Employment: Part-time, non-union position
Schedule: Schedule may vary based on building needs following the school district\'s academic calendar; no work required during school breaks or summer unless otherwise scheduled.
