Vehicle Scrap Technician Responsibilities include:
- Drain vehicle fluids.
- Remove tires, wheels, and batteries, including removal and crafting of batteries when necessary.
- Break down the tires from the rim.
- Operate a forklift and conduct daily inspections.
- Move vehicles while operating a forklift.
- Adhere to Suburban Automotive Service’s DRIVEN values and align business practices to support the SAS mission and vision.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Must be at least 21 years of age to drive company vehicles at Milford Proving Grounds.
- It must be mechanically inclined.
- Must be a self-starter and be able to work independently.
- Must be a reliable team player.
- Must be forklift certified or willing to acquire certification.
- Exposure to fumes, chemicals, and automotive liquids.
- There is no air conditioning inside the shop area.
- This position is performed both inside a garage and outside, so weather conditions may include extreme heat and cold.
- This position is continually active and requires standing, walking, bending, twisting, kneeling, stooping, and crouching all day.
- Must frequently lift and move items up to 40 lbs.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
