We work with contractors, engineers, and developers on a wide range of projects. We're growing our team and looking for an engineer who wants to be part of it.
The Role
This is a hybrid technical and client-facing position. You'll use your geotechnical background to evaluate sites, recommend ground improvement solutions, and help win work. Business development is a core part of the job, not an add-on.
What You'll Do

• Prepare proposals, budgets, and technical submittals for aggregate pier, rigid inclusion, and helical pier projects
• Build and maintain relationships with geotechnical engineers, structural engineers, general contractors, and developers across the Southeast
• Identify new opportunities, follow up on leads, and represent SubStruct at client meetings, lunch-and-learns, and industry events
• Present technical solutions to clients and design teams
• Coordinate with our engineering partners and field operations to ensure solutions are buildable and cost-effective
• Support project handoff and stay engaged through construction
What We're Looking For
• Bachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering (or a related field)
• 2 to 6 years of experience in geotechnical engineering or ground improvement
• Solid understanding of foundation systems, settlement, bearing capacity, and soil behavior
• Comfort talking with clients and building relationships; interest in business development
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Willingness to travel as needed for client meetings and job sites
• EIT or PE license preferred
Nice to Have
• Direct experience with aggregate piers, rigid inclusions, helical piers, or other deep foundation/ground improvement methods
• Experience with proposal development or estimating
• Existing relationships in the Southeast engineering and construction community
What We Offer
• Competitive salary
• Profit sharing
• Health, retirement, PTO
• Flexibility to work from our Charleston office or hybrid remote
• Room to grow in a company where you'll have real influence on the business
