What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Paraprofessional position at Substitute Teacher Service?
STS is now hiring full time (10-month) Special Education Paraprofessionals for the 2026-2027 school year in Pequea Valley School District. STS is also seeking to build its substitute pool for support staff, apply for either role!
Overview of Position:
Support students with disabilities one-on-one or in a small group setting, providing academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and personal care assistance in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and teacher direction. Special Education Paraprofessionals work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and school staff to promote student independence while maintaining a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
Required Credentials & Documents:
- Proof of Education - Associate's Degree or higher; or, High School Diploma and will complete the PDE Standards for becoming Highly Qualified within the first year of employment.
- Pennsylvania Criminal Records check (Act 34) - process date within 1 year
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance History (Act 151)- process date within 1 year
- FBI Criminal History Record (Act 114)- process date within 1 year
- Proof of a TB test or chest x-ray within 3 months
- Additional required STS documents will be provided during on boarding process
Schedule & Hours:
Full Time (10-month) Paraprofessionals follow a set schedule and are required to work Monday through Friday. Substitute Paraprofessionals communicate directly with the STS Supervisor to determine availability.
Hours by Building:
~Elementary: 8:30am-4:00pm
~Secondary (MS/HS): 7:15am-3:00pm
Pay rate may be negotiable based upon experience and qualifications, starting hourly rate is starting at $16.50.

- Ability to follow teacher direction while working independently and adapting to changing needs
- Basic computer proficiency
- Physical ability to assist with mobility, classroom activities, and behavioral interventions as needed
