Overview
We are seeking a passionate and energetic School Counselor to join our team. In this vital role, you will support students' academic, emotional, social, and behavioral development, fostering a positive school environment. Your expertise will help students navigate challenges, develop essential life skills, and achieve their full potential across diverse cultural backgrounds.
Duties
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions focused on adolescent development, mental health, behavioral guidance, and social skills.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, and external professionals such as child protective services and social workers to develop comprehensive student support plans.
- Assist students with academic advising, standardized testing preparation, and career exploration activities.
- Manage conflict resolution and behavior management strategies to promote a safe and respectful school climate.
- Ensure compliance with educational regulations and school policies related to student welfare and confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Conduct assessments related to childhood development, behavioral health, and special education needs; utilize guidance counseling techniques effectively.
- Communicate regularly with parents about student progress, behavioral concerns, and available support resources.
Experience
- Proven experience working with children in educational or social work settings.
- Strong background in guidance counseling, behavioral health, conflict management, and mental health counseling.
- Familiarity with special education practices, school legal knowledge, and educational compliance standards.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, child welfare agencies, and other professionals for comprehensive student support.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle confidential information discreetly.
- Knowledge of childhood development stages, adolescent psychology, and cultural diversity counseling practices.
- Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and implementing culturally responsive counseling approaches.
