Job Overview
We are seeking energetic and motivated Building Substitutes for Middle School to join our team. In this role, you will step into classrooms to ensure continuity of learning when regular teachers are absent. Your enthusiasm and flexibility will help maintain a positive learning environment, support student engagement, and uphold classroom routines across diverse subjects and grade levels.
Responsibilities
- Cover assigned middle school classrooms, delivering instruction based on lesson plans provided by the regular teacher or following established curriculum guidelines.
- Implement effective classroom management and behavior management strategies to foster a safe and respectful environment.
- Engage students in learning activities, providing support with literacy, math, and other core subjects as needed.
- Adapt lesson plans to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with special education requirements or working with individuals with autism.
- Maintain classroom order, monitor student behavior, and promote positive interactions among students.
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and administrators to ensure smooth classroom operations.
- Support early childhood education principles and incorporate age-appropriate instructional techniques when working with younger students.
Qualifications
- Prior classroom experience in middle school settings or related educational environments.
- Bachelor's Degree
- Knowledge of curriculum development, lesson planning, and instructional strategies across core subjects such as literacy and math.
- Experience working with children of varying abilities, including those with special needs or in preschool settings.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, staff, and parents.
- Familiarity with behavior management techniques and classroom management best practices.
- Background in early childhood education, childhood development, or Montessori methods is a plus.
