Position: Camp Counselor

The Camp Counselor will work to ensure students receive support before/during/after tutoring sessions in conjunction with the expectations of the Study Smart Tutors’ Education Department.

The position is a part-time, hourly position that maintains and progresses the organization’s tutoring products, practices, and persons in the Fresno area. The Camp Counselor will report directly to the Lead ASM (Gregory).

Job Responsibilities

The duties of the Camp Counselor is to provide both on-site student support in planning for Fresno STEAM Summer Camp, integrating technology, and carrying out other directives from the team, customers, and partners.

Tutor and Program Support

On-Site Support

• Subjects to be taught: STEAM
• Grades: K-5th
• Provide tutoring support to small and large groups of students
• Camp Counselor will have access to information about summer camp curriculum and assignments
• Adapt to new materials and teaching strategies
• Maintain consistent communication with Study Smart Tutors staff
• Partner with Study Smart Tutor’s Education team to provide comprehensive learning strategies to all students
• Gather and navigate feedback from school administration and other program staff.
• Update internal team members on program observations while on-site.
  
  

Team Collaboration

Weekly Meetings & Strategization

• Join weekly project huddles involving multiple stakeholders contributing to programmatic efforts.
• Join planning meetings with Lead ASM and other stakeholders.
  
  

Qualifications

• Must have experience working with diverse student populations, including English language learners and neurodivergent learners. Understanding of Social Emotional Learning.
• Familiarity with Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) frameworks to address the academic, behavioral, and emotional needs of students in high-need urban schools.
• Experience with STEAM intervention frameworks and practices.
• Effective support with students. Strong organization and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Teaching or tutoring experience is strongly desired.
• In-person availability is required.
• Scheduled hours: Mondays through Fridays from 12:30 PM to 5:30 PM PST.
• Complete and pass a background check, which may include fingerprinting based on location.
  
  

Salary and Benefits

• $20 - $25 an hour based on experience
• Paid Onboarding/ Training / Preparation / Support: $22.00 an hour
