STUDENT- Summer Campus Center Operations Staff

The Summer Operations Staff members are an integral part of the Campus Center office. The Operations Staff runs the college Information Desk and sets-up for all events in the Campus Center facility, and runs the food pantry.

Operations staff members must be able to take direction and complete assigned tasks independently, while displaying a positive attitude and willingness to help.  Operations Staff must attend a weekly meeting, and be prepared to work frequent early mornings, late nights, and weekends.

Pay Rate: $16.00/hour

Information Desk Area

At the Information Desk, the Operations Staff must exhibit outstanding customer service while working independently. Whether it’s answering phone calls or assisting people who walk up to the Information Desk,  the Operations Staff members must be knowledgeable about events happening around the College and the different departments at IC. These valuable staff members are usually the first person someone calls when seeking information about the College, and knowledge of college and community resources is vital to answer each question in a timely and correct manner. While working at the Information Desk, Operations Staff also manage the campus Lost and Found (tagging, tracking, and retrieving lost items).  

Recreation Center Area

The Operations Staff also oversees all activities in the Recreation Center, ensuring that customers are utilizing equipment and the space in a safe and appropriate manner. To do this, the staff members in the Recreation Center must also exhibit exceptional customer service skills, since they are dealing with customers throughout their shift.  During the summer, there are no regular Rec Center hours, but the Rec Center is open by request for summer groups like Summer Music Academy.

Set-Up Area

These shifts are spread throughout the week at times dictated by the event schedule and require schedule flexibility, which an Operations Staff member must have. Set-up shifts are assigned and reviewed in our weekly staff meeting.  While setting up and taking down events, the Operations Staff must have thorough knowledge of where set up equipment is stored in the building, proper and safe use of equipment, and working knowledge of set-up terms and styles.

Food Pantry Area

Students working in Prunty’s Pantry provide support for the food pantry in a variety of ways including receiving deliveries, unpacking and storing food in our storage locations, restocking the pantry, assisting with open pantry hours, signing visitors in to the client portal, training volunteers, and assisting with marketing and public relations as needed.

1. The Campus Center job will be a 5 or 6 day a week job with different hours and different days off each week.  Do you have (or anticipate having) any other summer obligations (classes, internships, other job, etc.)?  If so, please describe your summer time commitments and the anticipated available time you will have to work in as much detail as you are able to give.
2. Summer employment begins the first day of Senior Week, Wednesday, May 13^th and goes through the Sunday prior to the first day of classes, August 23^rd.   Ave you available to work for the whole summer?  If not, which dates are you available to work?
3. You are allowed and encouraged to take up to two unpaid weeks off for vacation/time away.  Do you have any particular dates or parts of the summer you will be unavailable?
4.
