CNPH 11100-05 Cinema Production 1 – Professor Mireille Heidbreder

A teaching assistant for Section 5 of Cinema Production 1 during the Spring 2026 semester will be actively helping and assisting the professor during the class period, as well as aiding with equipment pick up and drop off during hands-on production-based class sessions.

It is also expected that the TA will also help students in the course during small group discussions and/or hands-on practicum. As part of not only this position helping with manual and technological tasks, students considering this position should be prepared to actively engage with critiques and discuss their own perspective being a Film BFA, TPDM BS, or Doc Studies & Production BA major to aid students in this course, whom are typically first-year students and gain value information from the perspective of TAs and not solely the professor's perspective. Film BFA students will be given priority.

Finally, teaching assistants in this course also have the opportunity to demonstrate their skillsets as well alongside be prepared to answer questions about the material being taught, once again to not only aid the professor but also so the student can gain the most out of their experience being a teaching assistant for this course.

First-year students will not be considered for this position - only sophomore through senior standing students having already taken Cinema Production 1 within the above specified degrees, with again preference given to Film BFA majors (or the older Cinema & Photography BS or Film, Photography, and Visual Arts BFA programs). A minimum grade of B in the course is a requirement; alongside previous TA experience would be preferred. If one has any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out at mheidbreder@ithaca.edu.
