General Definition of Work
The Director of Student Planning & Outreach, under minimal supervision, performs senior‑level work with considerable decision-making leading the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of data-driven systems that support student assignment, enrollment, and planning strategies. Position leverages data analytics, automation, and digital tools to improve operational efficiency, inform decision-making, and enhance transparency across student planning processes. Position oversees enrollment projections, school boundaries, continuation patterns, and school choice processes, while building scalable systems and workflows to support district-wide planning initiatives. Employee performs advanced work to carry out Board of Education policies and procedures under the direction of the Executive Director of Student Planning & Outreach.

Essential Functions
- Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
- Lead, manage, supervise, and evaluate assigned programs/staff
- Investigate, analyze, and formulate methods for handling special projects/reports
- Apply project management procedures and best practices to department initiatives
- Continuously assess, design, and enhance data systems, tools, and workflows to improve efficiency, accuracy, and transparency in student planning processes
- Prepare recommendations related to student assignment boundaries and continuation patterns
- Develop and execute marketing and enrollment strategies (both short- and long-term) that are aligned with the goals and objectives of the district
- Promote internal and external communication to improve transparency, access, and enrollment; develop enrollment projection and recruitment strategies
- Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, including families and community partners
- In collaboration with Communications, develop marketing collateral
- Utilize data analytics to track trends and inform decision-making
- Conduct market research and demographic analysis
- Monitor and participate in departmental budget development
- Coordinate planning and outreach work across departments
- Design, develop, and optimize data systems, dashboards, and tools to support student planning and enrollment processes
- Identify opportunities to automate manual workflows and improve efficiency through technology solutions
- Lead the integration and use of data platforms (e.g., GIS mapping tools, dashboards, data visualization tools)
- Collaborate to implement scalable technology solutions
- Translate complex data into actionable insights to inform decisions and recommendations
- Ensure data integrity, consistency, and accessibility across systems
- Facilitate staff meetings and attend other related meetings as needed/required
- Participate in professional development workshops and leadership training
- Create an inclusive environment with positive communication/public relations
- Perform related work as assigned or required
