Billing Coordinator

Work Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM; Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Job Summary
The Insurance Claims & Revenue Cycle Specialist is responsible for managing insurance claims, verifying patient coverage, and supporting billing operations to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement. This role works closely with the Billing Manager and cross-functional teams to resolve claim issues, maintain compliance, and support efficient revenue cycle processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Submit, track, and follow up on insurance claims using billing platforms and payer portals (e.g., Nymbl, Waystar, Availity, MYCGS, United Healthcare).
• Monitor claim status and resolve rejections or denials in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with the Billing Manager to address discrepancies, escalate complex issues, and maintain accurate billing records.
• Verify patient insurance coverage, including support for same-day and walk-in appointments.
• Assist front office staff with coverage validation and updates related to payer requirements or coding changes.
• Maintain accurate documentation of claims, verifications, and follow-up activities.
• Track billing data and generate basic reports using Excel.
• Communicate effectively with clinical, clerical, and front office teams to ensure accurate patient and billing information.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in medical billing and insurance verification.
• Proficiency with EMR systems and Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Availity, MYCGS, United Healthcare portals, GAMIS, Ambetter.
