StuartCo Corporate Office is seeking a Full-Time HR Benefits Specialist to join our team in Bloomington, MN. As a Benefits Specialist, you will take on multiple priorities, pertaining to, but not limited to the overall Benefits open enrollment, Cobra, billing and reporting, along with 401(k) & 409(a) management, leave management and Paylocity support across multiple users. 


Working Hours: Typically, FT 40, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. Property office hours may vary from property to property. You may be asked to flex your hours to meet the demands of the business

Job Standards

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, including a 2-year degree.
  • Five Years of payroll and human resources-related experience are required.
  • Knowledge of federal and state compensation laws and general employment practices.
  • Significant knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel, Windows computer environment; Crystal report writer knowledge helpful.
  • Knowledge of Payroll and Paylocity experience preferred.
  • Follows/adheres to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work with frequent interruptions.
  • Willing to learn and utilize new technology.
  • Customer service orientation. Able to work productively and positively with all staff, management, vendors and others to achieve objectives.
  • Appropriately maintain financial and other Company confidential information.

Job Responsibilities and DutiesEssential Responsibilities:

Payroll

  • Oversees and assures the timely, accurate completion of the payroll function.
  • Communicate with payroll vendor re maintenance of payroll data and processes required.
  • Review the semi-monthly payroll, employee changes, and timesheets.
  • Calculates and maintains control totals to ensure the correctness of semi-monthly payroll as well as monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll reports.
  • Maintains records to determine pay eligibility for PTO.
  • Issues manual checks for non-standard payments, reviews status changes for proper classification, and investigates and identifies labor variances.
  • Monitors employee rent credit hours worked vs. rent compensation paid.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate submission of related reports including payroll reports, tax reports, and labor reports.
  • Ensures proper payment of employment garnishments, and communicates with employees and agencies, as appropriate; multiple garnishments may apply.
  • Answers employee questions regarding payroll and direct deposit.
  • Creates ad hoc reports and responds to payroll inquiries as requested.
  • Responds to employment payroll verification requests.
  • Performs special payroll-related projects and assignments, which may not be recurring.

Benefits

  • Enters new hires, changes, and terminations information into benefits websites; communicates same to broker/carrier.
  • Audits and codes monthly group medical/dental and group life insurance bills, as well as employee co-payment contributions.
  • Reviews, updates, and approves monthly invoices for medical, dental, and life insurance.
  • Responsible for coordination of all aspects of medical, dental, life, AD&D, and LTD benefits; determines eligibility, prepares initial paperwork and follow-up, tracks enrollment/activity.
  • Enters and records all benefit deductions in payroll.
  • Transmits semi-monthly reports (401(k), 409(a), etc.) to appropriate benefits websites; reports to accounting accordingly.
  • Responds to employee benefits verification requests.
  • Assists with special projects as requested by supervisor or management team.
  • Performs other related duties as requested by supervisor; adheres to HIPAA guidelines.

Family and Medical Leaves (FMLA), Short-Term Disability (STD), Long-Term Disability (LTD)

  • Responsible for coordination of all aspects of these benefits; determines eligibility, prepares initial paperwork and follow-up, tracks usage and payments, and communicates accordingly.
  • Monitors employee availability and usage of PTO and unpaid time during a leave.
  • Monitors benefit eligibility and contribution/premium deductions and/or payments.
  • Performs related projects and assignments, which may not be recurring, as requested by the supervisor.

Reporting

  • Creates and processes reports to various departments and managers.
  • Documents and updates semi-monthly payroll and benefits processes.
  • Regularly creates and distributes reports to manage payroll costs, i.e., OT reports.

Other

  • Ensures proper maintenance of personnel records and files; archives records per company policy.
  • Maintains I-9 and EEO records; completes annual EEO-1 report.
  • Responsible for confirmation of initial unemployment wage verifications.
  • Communicates payroll-related information and changes to appropriate departments/sites as directed.
  • Performs special related projects and assignments, which may not be recurring.
  • Organization and knowledge of archive materials, files, and payroll backup.
  • Works with outside auditors when necessary.
  • Handles all employee issues/inquiries; responds accordingly.
  • Creates and maintains payroll and reporting procedures manuals.
  • Participates in training managers regarding payroll processing and access to data.
  • Conducts training on payroll and timekeeping processes.
  • Participates in New Hire Orientation by conducting payroll and benefits information training.

Environment Conditions: The Payroll/Benefits Specialist works inside a climate-controlled building with a normal temperature range.


Equipment: Personal computer and printer, telephone, typewriter, photocopy machine, facsimile machine, calculator.
 

Salary : $60,000 - $80,000
