Role Description The Project Manager/Design Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Houston, Tx. This position is responsible for managing civil engineering projects from concept through completion, including coordinating schedules, budgets, and resources, and serving as a primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders. Day-to-day tasks include developing design plans and technical specifications, overseeing engineering analyses, reviewing drawings and reports, and ensuring compliance with applicable standards and regulations. The role also involves leading project teams, coordinating with contractors and regulatory agencies, monitoring progress and quality, and preparing project documentation and reports. The Project Manager/Design Engineer will contribute to proposal development, support business development activities, and help maintain SCG’s high standards of service and client satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Project Management skills, including experience in planning, scheduling, budgeting, and overseeing civil engineering projects.
- Expeditor and Expediting skills to coordinate paperwork, approvals, and project deliverables in a timely and organized manner.
- Construction management and observation experience to oversee field operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline; professional engineering licensure in Civil Engineering
- Proficiency with civil engineering design software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) and familiarity with relevant codes and standards.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects.
- Effective English written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team and work directly with clients. (Spanish as a second or first language is a plus)
- Experience with municipal public works, transportation, water, wastewater, or drainage projects is highly beneficial.
