Position Overview
Seeking a Lead Mechanic to join our collaborative team in Westerly, RI. You will work with project staff to maintain plant operations equipment, the laboratory, facilities, and collection systems. You will also supervise, evaluate, and train employees, as well as schedule and work with outside contractors when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply knowledge of engines, pumps, valves, motors, wastewater process control, and permit compliance.
- Perform preventive maintenance (PM), predictive maintenance (PdM), corrective, and emergency repairs.
- Diagnose operating problems and determine effective corrective procedures.
- Prepare required reports, maintain the CMMS, and ensure complete recordkeeping.
- Conduct plant inspections to determine equipment efficiency, cleanliness, and maintenance needs.
- Handle on-call duties (when comfortable), with the potential for weekend and holiday overtime as required.
- 5 years of maintenance experience, including supervisory/leadership experience (direct reports or major projects).
- Knowledge of electrical systems (\(480V\) three-phase, VFDs, and control circuits).
- Experience with mechanical troubleshooting and repairs, specifically pumps and valves.
- Proficiency in operating plant PLCs and SCADA systems.
- Familiarity with planning, scheduling, inventory control, and tracking approved budgets.
- Experience utilizing a CMMS for work orders and PMs.
- Ability to weld and fabricate.
- Knowledge of safe work practices and wastewater treatment principles.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong technical problem-solving, oral and written communication, and team-motivation skills.
- Ability to travel/walk to job sites to develop work plans with technicians and management.
