What are the responsibilities and job description for the Well Planner / Sr. Well Planner position at Stryker Energy Directional Services, LLC?
Stryker Directional is hiring a Well Planner to work in our Conroe, Texas office.
An experienced well planner could expect to carry planning responsibilities for somewhere between 6-10 rigs.
- Must have a minimum of 3 years experience in well planning
- Availability for a flexible weekly on-call rotation
- Extremely detail-oriented and capable of covering assigned rigs without supervision
- Experience using well planning software of some kind is required.
Stryker uses Landmark Compass, AutoCAD, and Innova Well Seeker day-to-day.
The ideal candidate will:
· Plan wells and monitor progress for multiple operators independently and simultaneously
· Deliver daily plan vs. actual (PvA) reports promptly each morning
· Attend routine customer and operations meetings
· Manage a varied workload with concurrent deadlines across multiple projects
· Mitigate anti-collision risks while maximizing drilling efficiency
· Have experience with Landmark’s WellPlan or Innova Engineering to provide torque and drag reports
· Routinely study and understand more complex functions of well planning such as: variability in magnetic modeling, IPM/Survey tools and their effect on ellipses of uncertainty, and the conversion of coordinates across geodetic systems.
· Participate in troubleshooting well planning-specific questions/issues with Innova Well Seeker as needed
· Be willing to work cooperatively/flexibly with other personnel
· Be self-sufficient, able to set and adhere to deadlines to manage a dynamic workload
