What are the responsibilities and job description for the Human Resources Generalist position at Structural Wood Corporation?
Job Overview
Structural Wood Corporation has manufactured roof and floor trusses in New York’s North Country for decades. We are hiring an HR Generalist for the first time. Until now, HR has been carried alongside other full-time jobs by people who already had full plates, with an outside HR partner filling some gaps. That has worked, and it has reached its limit.
This is a build-it role, not a maintain-it role. We have completed a task-level inventory of every HR responsibility in the business — sixty tasks in total. Sixteen stay with our accounting function. Of the remaining forty-four, a meaningful number have no owner at all today. You will be the first person here whose primary job is HR, reporting directly to the VP of Operations, and what this function becomes will substantially be your work.
We are posting this as part-time on purpose. The workload analysis supports roughly 25 to 35 hours per week today, with a credible path to full-time as the company grows. We would rather be accurate about that now than overstate it. The role could expand to 40 hours a week with administrative assistance role capabilities.
