Job Summary:
The Payroll/Accounting Associate is an integral member of Structor Group’s accounting and finance department, responsible for executing and supporting payroll processing, job cost allocation, and core accounting tasks. This role provides direct support to the CFO and ensures accurate, timely, and compliant payroll and financial operations. Excellent customer service to internal departments, employees, vendors, and clients is essential. This role is strictly payroll and accounting focused.
Job Responsibilities:
- Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll accurately, ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable laws.
- Verify, audit, and process employee timesheets, job cost coding, PTO requests, and approvals.
- Maintain payroll records, deductions, garnishments, direct deposits, and employee payroll files.
- Assist with payroll-related tax filings, wage verifications, and benefits-related payroll entries.
- Review and code vendor invoices and assist in Accounts Payable when needed.
- Support ongoing reconciliation of payroll accounts, job cost allocations, and GL coding.
- Coordinate with CFO to ensure payroll accuracy against project budgets.
- Assist with pay applications, invoicing, and project financial documentation as directed.
- Maintain organized records of invoices, pay applications, change orders, and payroll documentation.
- Support month-end closing activities including reconciliations and payroll journal entries.
- Generate payroll and financial reports as requested by management.
- Provide support during audits by compiling payroll and accounting documentation.
- Communicate effectively with employees regarding payroll questions, ensuring confidentiality and professionalism.
- Maintain accuracy and attention to detail in all payroll and accounting functions.
- Stay current on payroll regulations, wage laws, tax updates, and construction accounting practices.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- 2 years of payroll and/or accounting experience required.
- Experience in construction accounting or job costing strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of payroll processing, wage laws, and multi-state payroll practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and strong analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; customer service oriented.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to confidentiality and ethical handling of payroll and financial information.
