What are the responsibilities and job description for the EMS Senior Technician position at Struction Solutions?
Duties:
- Support the design and review process for HVAC controls and project submittals.
- Analyze utility data and energy consumption to help identify schools suitable for recommissioning and retro-commissioning projects.
- Evaluate EMS (Energy Management System) data, energy usage, and alarm reports to identify cost-effective energy-saving opportunities.
- Assess EMS data and alarms to recommend preventive maintenance strategies.
- Conduct on-site inspections to verify existing conditions and as-built documentation for identified projects.
- Implement practical, low-cost, or no-cost solutions to address EMS system issues at school sites.
- Diagnose and resolve basic issues related to HVAC mechanical systems, electrical components, and control systems.
- Address and resolve basic warranty service calls.
- Perform calibration of systems using standard electronic test equipment.
- Assist in coordinating and managing in-house commissioning projects.
- Carry out additional responsibilities as required.
- At least three (3) years of professional experience in building controls or a closely related field.
- Proficiency in computer networking principles, including setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to wire, commission, and diagnose basic HVAC maintenance issues effectively.
- Solid foundational knowledge of HVAC systems and their operations within facilities.
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Computer Science, Electrical, or Information Technology) from an accredited college or university,
- Two-year technical degree in HVAC or Electronics-related studies, supplemented by an additional two years of relevant experience as a substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
- Hands-on experience with various controls manufacturers such as Automated Logic, Carrier, Delta, Distech, Schneider Electric, or Trane.
- Demonstrated expertise in diagnosing and resolving installation issues during both static and dynamic start-up phases.
- Proven track record of supporting installation teams and contractors on project sites.
- Comprehensive experience in conducting or assisting with the commissioning of Energy Management Systems (EMS).
