SHIFT - 7:00AM-7:30pm Friday-Sunday
Position Purpose:
The Utility Technician is primarily responsible for performing periodic quality checks on the bottling lines. This person will have knowledge of proof, fill and labeling requirements and will adhere to those requirements. The Utility Technician may be asked to perform General Operator tasks as needed.
Core Responsibilities
- Perform, or assist with, start-up, periodic, and end of day quality testing. This may include proof and fill measurement, pH and brix testing, and finished case inspections.
- The Utility Technician must be capable of legibly and accurately reading and recording quality test results on internal documentation.
- Understand and follow the production schedule and the daily work order.
- Set up various pieces of production equipment including the bottle coder and case coder.
- Adhere to Strong Spirits good manufacturing practices (GMPs).
- Provide clear communication to the Bottling Supervisor or other Management personnel regarding all quality issues.
- Perform other duties (including General Operator tasks) as assigned by the Bottling Supervisor or other Management personnel.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements
- High school degree or equivalent education and experience preferred.
- Experience working in the distilled spirits industry is preferred.
- Able to accurately record test data onto paper forms.
- Comfortable working with testing equipment – DMA, pH meter, scales, etc.
- Attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Problem solving skills.
- Self-motivated with strong initiative.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Adaptable and able to deal with change quickly.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Fast paced, warehouse and industrial environment.
- Exposure to hazardous materials such as alcohol and chemicals, loud noise, and moderate heat/cold.
- Essential physical requirements, such as frequent climbing, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching and lifting, occasionally above shoulders.
- Physical effort/lifting to 50 pounds.
- Some overtime required.
- Able to stand and walk all day with minimal breaks.
- Able to lift, carry and pull 50 pounds or less.
- Able to kneel, squat, bend, and climb.
- Able to work around alcohol and other flammable liquids.
- Able to visually inspect products
