A 6th Grade English Language Arts (ELA) teacher provides instruction in reading, writing, grammar, and communication skills aligned with Arkansas state standards. The teacher helps students develop literacy, critical thinking, and communication abilities necessary for academic success and everyday life. 🎯 Primary Responsibilities 📖 Instruction & Curriculum Plan and deliver engaging lessons in: Reading comprehension Writing (narrative, argumentative, informational) Grammar, vocabulary, and language conventions Align instruction with Arkansas academic standards Use a variety of teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs 🧠 Literacy Development Teach students to: Analyze texts and identify themes Support ideas with evidence Develop clear and structured writing Foster a love of reading and writing 👩‍🏫 Classroom Management Maintain a structured and positive classroom environment Establish clear expectations and routines Support student behavior and engagement 🤝 Communication & Collaboration Communicate regularly with parents/guardians Collaborate with grade-level teams and support staff Participate in meetings and professional development
